About RDA
|
| The city of Las Vegas Redevelopment Agency (RDA) was created in 1986 by the Nevada Legislature to help turn around the urban decay in downtown Las Vegas. The goal of the RDA is to work in concert with the community and private sector to reverse the physical, economic and social blight within its designated boundaries. The RDA is designed to stimulate new development and redevelopment. These developments in turn create additional tax revenue that can be used to provide services for city residents. The existing tax base and revenues that existed at the time the RDA was established continue to benefit schools, public safety and other public needs. Exterior improvement funds available through the RDA helped the El Cortez Cabana Suites with recently being declared one of the world’s best boutique hotels. Writers for Arthur Frommer’s Budget Travel Online Web site “scoured the globe until we found the 31 best new hotels for under $150.” The Cabana Suites is listed along with boutique hotels in noteworthy locations such as Paris, Brazil, Berlin and Palm Springs. Visit the Visual Improvement Programs page on this Web site to learn more about our exterior improvement incentive program.
